The first of the Green Ethernet products the DGS-1016D provides 3 key benefits to end users through its cutting edge innovative eco-friendly technology

Reduces power consumption & creates less heat
Extended product life
Reduces Operating Costs

Power Savings by Number of Connected Ports and Link Status
Computers do not require Internet access all the time; neither do switches utilize all ports at all times. When a computer or network equipment is shutdown, switches often remain on and continue to consume considerable amount of power. With Green Ethernet technology, D-Link switches can automatically detect link status and reduce power usage of ports that are idle. Computers or any connecting parties set to standby mode (not power off), however, will not provide significant power savings.

Power Savings by Cable Length
The Green Ethernet switches have the ability to analyze the length of any Ethernet cable connected to them for adjustment of power usage accordingly. Shorter lengths require less power.

Overall Power Savings Per Day
For a traditional switch, power consumption remains constant even when the ports are not in use. In a standard workday scenario where PCs are used for 10 hours a day and powered off 14 hours a day, and connected to the switch using 20 meter cables, D-Link's Green Ethernet can save up to 20% power used for each system.

8-Port Desktop Switch with 4 Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports

The DES-1008P 8-Port switch can convey power to up to four network devices via the usual network cables using Power over Ethernet technology. This provides a cost-effective entry-level solution for users wishing to make the most of their network. The DES-1008P enables users to easily connect and supply power to devices such as wireless Access Points (AP), IP cameras and IP phones via the common network cables.

As a switch, the DES-1008P can be used to share files, music and video across your network or create a multi-player gaming environment. Users can also add multiple computers, printers, Network Attached Storage (NAS) and any other Ethernet device onto a network.

This device runs ultra-quiet, making it ideal for both home and small office use. In addition, it can be wall-mounted to save desktop space.

IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE)

Four out of the eight ports on the DES-1008P support the IEEE 802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet (PoE). Each of these ports can supply up to 15.4W, up to a total PoE budget of 56W, allowing users to attach IEEE 802.3af-compliant devices without requiring an additional power source.
Networking devices receiving power in this way do not need to be placed within close proximity of a power outlet, allowing greater flexibility for their placement.
Compliance with IEEE 802.3af also means that when a compliant device is attached, the switch automatically adjusts the power supplied to that device.
For non-compliant devices, a PoE adapter such as D-Link’s DWL-P50 can be used to still allow the switch to be the power source.

Superior performance

The switch is completely unmanaged, so no configuration is required and installation is quick and easy. Support for auto-MDI/MDI-X on all ports eliminates the need for crossover cables for connection to another switch or hub. Auto-negotiation on each port senses the link speed of a network device (either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps) and intelligently adjusts for compatibility and optimal performance.
The DES-1008P also features diagnostic LEDs that display status and activity, allowing you to quickly detect and correct problems on the network. With wire-speed filtering and store-and-forward switching, the DES-1008P also maximizes network performance while minimising the transmission of bad network packets. Combining the convenience of PoE, superior performance, and ease of use, the D-Link DES-1008P is the ideal choice for adding PoE devices to either a home or a small business network.

What This Product Does
TL-SF1008P is an 8 10/100Mbps ports unmanaged switch that requires no configuration and provides 4 PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports. It can automatically detect and supply power with all IEEE 802.3af compliant Powered Devices (PDs). In this situation, the electrical power is transmitted along with data in one single cable allowing you to expand your network to where there are no power lines or outlets, where you wish to fix devices such as APs, IP Cameras or IP Phones, etc.

Power over Ethernet
4 of the 8 Auto-Negotiation RJ45 ports (port-1 to port-4) of the switch support Power over Ethernet (PoE) function. These PoE ports can automatically detect and supply power with those IEEE 802.3af compliant Powered Devices (PDs).

-Overload Arrangement
TL-SF1008P has the priority function which will help protect the system when the system power is overloaded. If all PoE PDs power consumption is >= 57W, a priority will be arranged among the PoE ports, then the system will cut o‑ the power of the lowest-priority port.

-Port Priority Function
Priority (port-1=port-2=port-3>port-4): This function will help to ensure the normal operation of the system, it means Port 4 will be cut off when all total PoE PDs power consumption exceed 57W. For an example, Port 1, 2 and 4 is using 15.4W (maximum power for per port is 15.4W); the system power is 46.2W in total. If there is an additional PD inserted to Port 3 with 12W, and then the system will cut off the power of Port 4 because of the overloaded power, this means Port 1, 2 will use 15.4W, and Port3 will use 12W, no power will be supplied to Port 4.

Easy To Use

TL-SF1008P is easy to install and use. It requires no configuration and installation. With desktop design, outstanding performance and quality, the TP-LINK’s TL-SF1008P 8-Port 10/100Mbps Desktop Switch with 4-Port PoE is an ideal choice for expanding your home or office network.
